Melissa Oneil

MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil (born July 12 1988,) is a Canadian actress and singer. O'Neil was the first Canadian woman to win Canadian Idol's third season in 2005. O'Neil is well-known for her role in Syfy's sci-fi series Dark Matter. O'Neil was also known for her roles in The Rookie as Officer Lucy Chen. O'Neil was voted in the bottom two and three finals. After being stunned, judges asked viewers to cast their votes for Melissa as the most active contestant. O'Neil was praised for her performances and she never dropped back to the third place. Zack Werner declared that O'Neil was "a threat" to win the entire contest. On September 7, 2005, O'Neil got into the final two of the show, competing alongside Goudie. After another stunning performance, judge Werner famously announced that the headlines of the next day's newspaper would read "The King, Kalan Porter has died and long live the Queen." O'Neil defeated Goudie at the grand final results show on September 14th, 2005 to be named the third Canadian Idol.
