Awkwafina has been described as an American performer and actor who began her career with innovative raps which addressed the issues of sexuality and race with a an edgy, comical perspective. She then expanded to Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her first musical encounter. She performed on the trumpet. Following her Jazz and classical training She delved into hip-hop as a teen. While in college, she took classes in writing and women's studies. She even spent a short time studying Mandarin during her time in Beijing. After graduation, she start focusing on music. Her My Vag song, My Vag which was her response to Mickey Avalons My Dick, became a viral hit via the Internet and was later featured on her first LP Yellow Ranger. The album also included viral hits such as the body-positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown NYC Bitche$. This track was directly linked into another venture Awkwafina's NYC a travel guide published in the year 2015. The resume of her included musicians and an author. Now she was looking to further her career in acting. Aside from early TV shows like Girl Code and Tawk, she has also been featured in movies like Neighbors2Storks, and Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed many notable roles that were a breakthrough, like Dude Ocean's 8, or Crazy Rich Asians. The EP debuted in June.
